Prime & Fire Selects is a new program dedicated to providing the opportunity for talented filmmakers to document unique human-interest stories based around action, endurance or specialist sports that are away from the constraints often coupled with more traditional brand funded edits.

"Action sports and creativity go hand in hand and many a filmmaker has cut his or her teeth by lying in gutters getting the shot. We want to be able to encourage this creativity by helping fund new and established talent to bring their ideas and concepts to life and in doing so, inspire a new generation of filmmakers and riders alike." - Phil Young, Prime & Fire (Judge)

The world-renowned judging panel includes choreographer Benjamin Millepied, cinematographer Darran Tiernan, director Toby Dye and Prime and Fire’s creative director Phil Young. Using their leading expertise, together they will select the 10 most inventive and promising pitches and provide the funding and support needed to help these ideas become a reality.

The most exceptional pitch will be awarded with a £10,000 production budget to put towards their final short film, while the remaining nine filmmakers will each receive a £2,000 production budget.

The program is a brilliant platform for up and coming talent to showcase their creativity in an industry notoriously difficult to get ahead in. The 10 selected filmmakers will not only be awarded with funding and support from a leading creative team, but also the chance of having their film screened at a special industry event at the BFI, as well as the possibility to collaborate with Prime and Fire and Factory Media on future projects.

“There are always limitations and compromises when making a film, but if the idea is strong and original that momentum can create a unique and inspirational story. I am excited to see that kind of creativity. I am proud to be part of this incentive and I am really looking forward to seeing what the next generation of filmmakers produce. This is such an important platform for new filmmakers. I know from experience how difficult it is to get into this business." - Darran Tiernan, Cinematographer (Judge)
