Press Release: Launch of the Dirt 100 & RCUK 100
Factory Media has launched the 2017 editions of the Dirt 100 and RCUK 100 - showcasing the very best products in mountain biking and road cycling respectively.
Every product contained within the digital guides has been hand-picked by the Dirt and RCUK editorial teams, showcasing the latest mountain bike and road cycling technology.
With the Dirt 100 now in its ninth year and the RCUK 100 celebrating its third edition, the two guides have become the benchmark by which mountain bike and road products are judged.
Dirt editor-at-large Steve Jones said: "The purpose of the Dirt 100 is simple. It’s a compilation of the best bikes and bits that are currently available irrespective of price, method of sale or country of origin.
"An eyebrow or two will be raised by some of this year’s inclusions but some of those have in fact been some of the easiest shoo-ins we’ve ever made.
The Dirt 100 includes 40 bikes across three categories - downhill, trail and enduro, and e-bikes - and also includes the Dirt team's pick of wheels and tyres, suspension, brakes and transmission, component and apparel.
"It’s about small margins," added Jones. "What makes the Dirt 100 and what doesn't might just come down to a matter of millimetres. These can and do make a difference."
Meanwhile, the RCUK 100 is a celebration of the road bike in 2017 - and inevitably, that means disc-equipped bikes appear in the 100 in a greater quantity than ever before.
RCUK editor George Scott said: "There's no shortage of endurance or gravel bikes in the 2017 RCUK 100, but there's plenty to catch the eye of the purist, too - from thoroughbred race bikes to custom beauties.
This year, RoadCyclingUK took the 100 photo shoot out of the studio and on location to a disused printing factory in south London, while bike videos were shot in Majorca, showcasing those machines on an island which is undoubtedly paradise for cyclists.
Scott added: "Our aim for the third edition of the RCUK 100 was not only to showcase the top road cycling products of the year, but to present them in a truly unique, captivating and inspiring online environment.
"The result is a digital hub jam-packed with hundreds of images and beautiful video, covering everything from frames to footwear, pedals to power meters and tyres to handlebar tape."
