This month: John Wells, Account Manager
What was your start date and position at Factory?
I started in March 2015. I started as an ‘Account Manager’ on the BMX titles.
What has been your favourite Factory project?
NASS was really fun this year, we were out doing the video production for the BMX and Skate comps. Good crew, good riding and good weather, splendid!
What has been the weirdest job you’ve ever had to do?
I worked in Burning Man’s tiny Airport as a customs official. I also used to work for a bank (Don’t tell anyone), that was really weird.
What’s the best place you’ve ever travelled to?
Japan is alright, Africa is OK, New Zealand is impressive. Nothing beats Donegal on the west coast of Ireland.
Who has influenced your career the most and how?
Easy! Takeru Kobayashi (aka Jaws). He is the World’s greatest living competitive eater and holds over 8 Guinness world records. This guy is a true inspiration, proof that you can reach your goals. Not a minute goes by when I don’t think of this guy.
If you could have a drink with anyone, who would it be?(dead/alive/fictional/famous/not famous)
Andre the Giant. Andre once had 156 beers in one sitting.
Three things people would be surprised to know about you:
- I have never been in prison
- I love taking pictures of miserable urban scenes.
- I’ve suffered from crippling insecurity and desperation.
Greatest personal achievement?
I haven’t figured out if it has been an achievement or a massive waste of time, but probably BMXing. Making videos with friends and travelling with my bike.
Best thing about your job?
Being part of magazines/sites that I’ve grown up reading.
Wind your neck in.
