Factory Media recruits for international distribution and sales

New-look team to drive international strategy

Factory Media, Europe’s largest lifestyle sports and culture content business, has appointed a new head of sales and a head of distribution as the company continues to expand its international content rights business.

Joining Georgie Eyre, who was appointed last September to the newly created role of head of acquisitions, are Sam Thompson, who will serve as Factory Media’s head of sales, and Nathalie Holden, who will act as head of distribution. Eyre, Thompson and Holden will report to managing director Darryl Newton and working with Dee Smith, director of content jointly to acquire content, source pre-sales investment money and sell finished products.

Factory Media’s international exploitation strategy is to develop and roll out its innovative approach to content production and distribution across linear, digital and social channels.

Factory media managing director Darryl Newton said: “We are extremely grateful to Bo Stehmeier, who came in last year and set up the foundations and strategy for our rights and distribution business, complementing our owned media and production services. Now, with executives of Georgie, Sam and Nathalie’s calibre, the team has all the requisite skills to fulfil our ambitions.”

Thompson was previously managing director, international, of the US-based content distributor Big Media Holdings. In this capacity, he set up a London office to serve as Big Media’s international springboard into new markets, including the Middle East, CEE, Russia/CIS, Australia, New Zealand and Japan.

Holden most recently served as commercial director at interactive entertainment company Cube Interactive, which specialises in leveraging valuable IP across television, mobile and tablet devices. Prior to this she worked alongside Eyre on the acquisitions and sales team at producer/distributor Off The Fence. In her new role, Holden will work with Factory’s 20- strong media sales team, 50 in-house editorial and creative staff, and eight social media specialists.
