Mpora.TV to launch extreme channel on Yahoo Eurosport

Online sports channel Mpora.TV is to launch an extreme sports section on joint venture sports portal Yahoo Eurosport.

The extreme sports section will form part of the broader Yahoo Eurosport offering, with exclusive footage from the extreme sports calendar.

Content will include video highlights packages, daily news and features. Users will be able to watch highlights from key extreme sports events, including the Billabong Air and Style in Innsbruck in January and the Vans Triple Crown of surfing in Hawaii this December.

The content will be delivered by Mpora.TV, which is Europe’s leading extreme sports online channel. It is owned and operated by Factory Media, the online sports broadcaster.

MPORA.TV is the latest addition to Perform’s e-Player

Mpora and Perform, the digital sport and entertainment specialist, today launched a new channel for e-Player, the free-to-view multi-channel video player, which delivers premium sports highlights and video clips across the web.

From this week e-Player viewers will be able to access for free MPORA.TV, broadcasting live and with the hottest highlights from extreme sports and mainstream events such as the British Motocross Series, UCI Mountain Bike Series and TTR Snowboard Series.

e-Player is currently available across a number of leading digital publishers including News International, The Telegraph, Daily Mail, Johnston Press and Trinity Mirror. Perform and Virgin Media launched e-Player in August and this new channel will sit alongside selected highlights from Virgin Media’s Barclays Premier League and Coca-Cola Football League match content, as well as a portfolio of premium sports channels from Perform’s Omnisport.tv brand, including European Football Leagues and international football plus tennis, golf, rugby, cricket, darts and basketball content.

Factory Team in Awards shortlists

Two of the magazine industry’s most celebrated awards have recognised Factory Media staff for their design and editorial skills.
 
The Press Gazette revealed their awards shortlist this week, with the following nominations:

Press Gazette chairman of judges Dominic Ponsford said: “More than 50 of the country’s leading magazine professionals were involved in the judging process and found that the standard of work on display was incredibly high”.
 
In addition, Sam Haddad has been shortlisted by the BSME (British Society of Magazine Editors) for the ‘Fiona Macpherson New Editor of the Year’ award. Sam is recognised for her work on Cooler and is up against Editors from Wallpaper, Marie Clair and Fabulous Magazine amongst others, for this prestigious award.
 
Winners will be announced on the 3rd and 4th of November respectively at London venues.

MPORA.TV LAUNCHES THE UK’S FIRST DEDICATED ACTION SPORTS ONLINE TV CHANNEL

Factory Media today announced plans to launch the UK’s biggest and most content rich online actions sports TV channel that will be rolled out in Europe throughout 2008. MPORA TV will go live on August 4th providing entertainment from across the world of extreme sports, with channels dedicated to snowboarding, surfing, skateboarding, mountain biking, motocross and BMX. As well as highlights from events throughout Europe, MPORA.TV will commission and produce exclusive documentaries from leading filmmakers, and stream full-length DVDs. In addition, the site will offer exclusive access to new releases through its partnership with US Production Company, Video Action Sports Entertainment Group (VASS).
Factory Media is Europe’s most successful action sports media owner with 14 publications covering all major action sports and a current monthly readership of 500,000; they currently have 17 websites with monthly audiences exceeding 750,000. MPORA.TV, a new channel to supplement the user generated video site MPORA.com, has been designed not only to appeal to the core audience but will be targeting mainstream viewers through a mix of content rich films and exclusive live streaming from some of Europe’s best loved sporting events and festivals.
